Work Conditioning Program

The Work Conditioning Program (aka Occupational Rehabilitation Program (OR1)) is a program designed to condition injured employees to a fitness level required by their specific job demands.

This program runs for four hours a day Monday-Friday for up to 6 weeks dependent on the specific needs of the person, severity of injury.

  • Program content tailored to meet individual's needs
  • Intake, Interim and Discharge Assessment and Reporting
  • The second absence reported to the insurer on the same day
  • Return to work recommendations included in Discharge Report

Return To Work Services

A case review and assessment of critical job demands

This service consists of:

  • Review of critical history from client interview as well as from information provided by the referral source.
  • Identification of job demands.
  • Physical and functional assessment of abilities which relate to the job demands.
  • Job Match between demonstrated and required ability levels.
  • Recommendations on further intervention or services when appropriate.
  • Written report within 5 days

Job site visit and return to work planning

This service consists of:

  • Selective physical and functional screen of worker's abilities, as they relate to critical job demands.
  • A visit to the job-site arranged with the employer and the worker where all aspects of the job are observed. Tasks that cannot be observed are discussed at the meeting.
  • The job is broken down into tasks and the physical demands and frequency of each task is identified.
  • Return to work strategies i.e. modification of duties and hours, transitional work etc. are explored and discussed at the meeting if appropriate.
  • A written Graduated Return To Work (GRTW) Plan consisting of recommended hours, duties and limitations will be provided to all parties i.e. worker, employer and physician upon approval from the Insurer.
  • Written report provided within 5 days.

Job match and return to work planning

This service consists of:

  • Identification of the critical job demands from an interview or from information provided by the referral source. Physical and functional assessment of abilities which relate to the job demands.
  • "Job Match" made between worker's demonstrated abilities and the critical job demands.
  • A written Graduated Return To Work (GRTW) Plan consisting of recommended hours, duties and limitations.
  • Written report provided within 5 days

Graduated return to work (grtw) plan monitoring

  • This service could be considered subsequent to a JSV and GRTW Plan or a Job Match and GRTW Plan. It would not be offered as a stand alone service.
  • Communication via telephone or e-mail with worker, insurer and employer on a weekly basis for up to 6 weeks.
  • Discharge report with recommendations when appropriate within 5 days of conclusion of GRTW.
